Erlanger, Kentucky is a city located in Kenton County. In 1874 after a lot of discussion, the Cincinnati Southern Railroad voted to build a bridge across the Ohio River, laying down track along the route of the Lexington Pike to Florence. The Erlanger depot was built in 1877 and is the last remaining wooden depot along the entire stretch between Cincinnati and Chattanooga. The Erlanger depot can be found inside the Erlanger Proper Subdivision, one of the first planned subdivisions in Northern Kentucky. In 1887, the Erlanger Land Syndicate filed the plan with the Kenton County Clerk of Courts and the parcel of land was officially accepted into the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. In 2004, both the Erlanger Historical Depot and the Erlanger Proper Subdivision were accepted as one of the State of Kentucky Highway Marker recipients.
